NorthPoint Care have launched a campaign for the UK Church to engage with and reform the foster care system.
The CARE Churches Alliance was launched at a church leaders online gathering, hosted by The Bishop of Durham, Revd Paul Butler.
Elijah Kirby, Founder and CEO of NorthPoint Care, a non-profit fostering organisation setup to help improve the outcomes for looked-after children, said "The Church has a crucial role to play in answering some of the complex needs within the care system. I am very optimistic at how together, we can drastically improve the outcomes of looked after children and young people."
The foster care system has been under increasing strain in recent years, with the number of children entering care rising exponentially. In June 2020, Barnardos declared a state of emergency with the foster system, citing around 10,000 additional families needed to give each child a home.
